Course Information

The RYA Coastal Skipper/ Yachtmaster theory is advanced training for more experienced skippers, building on the Day Skipper course. The course will take your theory knowledge to the standard required for RYA Coastal Skipper /Yachtmaster Offshore practical exams, concentrating on advanced navigation and meteorology skills. This course equips you to navigate safely on coastal and offshore passages. It allows time for revision of the basics and then moves on to advanced navigation techniques.

RYA Yachtmaster Theory courses are taught over 40 hours with three exam papers. A comprehensive course pack is included, as well as two exercise charts, a course handbook, and the course exercises workbook.

Ability after the course: Able to safely plan day and night passages, including offshore and inshore navigation
