The RYA/MCA Sea Survival course is good for leisure sailors and power boaters as well. This 1-day Sea Survival Course will prepare students for all eventualities at sea and is vital for yachtsman, crews, skippers and power boaters of all types.

This RYA training course concentrates on sea survival for professional crews, commercial operators and offshore race crews. The RYA Sea Survival Course covers essential survival techniques including what to do if the worst happens and you have to abandon your boat or ship. RYA/MCA Sea Survival is also day 1 of the 2 day ISAF Offshore Safety Crew Course, which is required for crews racing offshore in ISAF races.

People wishing to commercially endorse the following courses also need to take the RYA / MCA Sea Survival course:

  • MCA / RYA Yachtmaster
  • MCA / RYA Advanced Powerboat Certificate

The course includes training that equips the students with practical survival techniques and is delivered in both the classroom, outside and the water (swimming pool).  The Bristol Maritime Academy makes the course as practical as possible with the use of life rafts and distress flares.
