Course content: Position fixing, Course shaping, and plotting, advanced tidal knowledge, use of almanacs, admiralty & pilotage publications, electronic navigation, plotting weather systems, weather predictions and observations, using a barometer, collision regulations, customs regulations for cruising abroad, taking and interpreting weather forecasts

Course Information

The RYA Coastal Skipper/ Yachtmaster theory is advanced training for more experienced skippers building on the Day Skipper course. The course will take your theory knowledge to the standard required for RYA Coastal Skipper /Yachtmaster Offshore practical exams, concentrating on advanced navigation and meteorology skills. This course equips you to navigate safely on coastal and offshore passages. It allows time for revision of the basics and then moves on to advanced navigation techniques.

RYA Yachtmaster Theory courses are taught over 40 hours with three exam papers. It can be covered as a series of evening classes or as an intensive course over 6 days or 2 weekends. A comprehensive course pack is included, as well as two exercise charts, a course handbook, and the course exercises workbook. We also provide FREE OF CHARGE a full-size course plotter and brass dividers.
