Handbooks and Pre-Course Reading
You will receive your RYA VHF book in the post prior to the course start date provided that the course booking was made when there is sufficient time before the course start date to allow the book to arrive. The joining instructions email upon booking this course will let you know what pre-course reading is required.
If there is limited time to the course start date from the day of booking, posting the RYA VHF book will not be an option. RYA VHF books can always be collected from Bristol Maritime Academy before the course.
Examination
Please ensure you have registered for your SRC Exam, directly with the RYA. By completing this online application Here. You will receive an RYA Exam Report Card from the RYA after paying the RYA on their website for the exam.
Course Details
Assumed Ability: None
Ability after the course: Able to use a non-DSC, and DSC VHF Radios competently
Minimum Age: 16+ (on the day of the exam)
Exam Type / Duration: A combination of a written theory test and practical assessment in the use of Marine VHF DSC radios and GMDSS Equipment. This exam takes place straight after the course.
