This 3 day RYA Advanced Powerboat course develops skippering techniques for coastal and offshore passages by day and night. The course includes a night passage planned and executed by the candidates after some training from our Advanced Powerboat Instructors. This will take place in the Bristol Channel offering a challenging and educational training area.

The RYA Advanced Powerboat course is for all boaters, whether professional or leisure users, wanting to undertake more adventurous powerboating activities. Candidates will be trained in more advanced powerboat skills for coastal use and develop their knowledge of navigation when they can only rely on their instruments and the environment around them at night.

RYA Advanced Powerboat courses are for those who already have good boat handling skills and knowledge and want to be able to feel more secure in their knowledge of boat handling and navigation at night in coastal waters. It is strongly recommended that all students taking the Advanced course to hold a VHF/SRC operators certificate and a valid first-aid certificate.

The course includes a 1-day “Pre-Training” where we can assess your skills and check if there’s anything that needs to be ‘refreshed’ before your progressing onto the course- so you get another day of training included!
