This in depth course covering boat handling, high speed manoeuvres, man overboard recovery and collision regulations, is the most popular course within the RYA Powerboat Scheme as it introduces people to powerboating in close quarters but also at high speed.
We are the only RYA centre in the Bristol Harbour to offer both inland and coastal endorsement as part of the RYA Powerboat Level two. The course begins in Bristol’s historic floating harbour with slow speed manoeuvring, this gives powerboat drivers the opportunity to drive in to the centre of Bristol by boat and practice mooring at the many pontoons and landings around the harbour (it is also good for sightseeing locations such as the SS Great Britain and the M-shed).
For the coastal section of the RYA powerboat level 2 we lock out of Cumberland Basin and Entrance Lock onto the River Avon and with a quick 4 mile run down the river to the Bristol Channel. The river gives drivers the chance to experience driving in flowing water and navigation as well as practical application of the ‘Rules of the Road’. Once out in the channel we work on high speed driving manoeuvring between the mouth of the River Avon and Portishead. This is a navigable waterway with many docking cargo ships, tugs and yacht races to see which adds to the experience.
We also offer Birthday Vouchers: If you’re stuck for something to give to your friends and family (or even your boss as a group present) then why not buy a voucher against one of our training courses.
ICC for using a Powerboat Abroad
The RYA Powerboat level 2 course can be taken inland or on the coast and your certificate will be endorsed accordingly. The International Certificate of Competence or “ICC” is essential if a boat owner or charterer requires evidence of competence when visiting another European country.
